What we do

Center for Popular Music Research, founded in 2013, is dedicated to researching, understanding and interpreting popular music as one of the key phenomena of contemporary culture. Through research, educational programs, public events, and collaborations with artists, scholars, and institutions in Serbia and abroad, the Center develops a space in which popular music is viewed as an important social, cultural, and aesthetic expression. Our projects include mapping musical practices, supporting young professionals, encouraging expert and public dialogue, and promoting contemporary forms of popular culture.

Research

The Center studies contemporary musical practices, genres, and cultural contexts of popular music in Serbia and the region.

Promotion and interpretation

The Center actively engages in interpreting, presenting, and disseminating knowledge about popular music and the contemporary cultural scene.

Education

The Center organizes workshops, lectures, and professional programs for young researchers, musicians, and professionals in the field of popular culture.

Organizing activities

The Center develops events, discussions, and projects that bring together audiences, artists, and researchers around topics related to popular music.
