WIKI POPULAR

Wiki Popular is a project of the Center for Popular Music Research, carried out in cooperation with Wikimedia Serbia, with the goal of creating a database of textual content in Serbian about various practices of popular music. The project is based on the principles of free knowledge and contributes to making reliable information available about musical genres, styles, production, music institutions, and other key concepts in the field of popular music. During the project’s implementation, its focus expanded to include collecting biographical data on important performers and ensembles, in order to fill significant gaps in existing Wikipedia content. Viki Popular was awarded Best Project of 2024 within the Wikimedia Serbia program, confirming its importance for strengthening the visibility and understanding of popular music in the Serbian language.
